2019 Young People's Concerts - Once Upon A Time
Magic and mischief, princes and princesses, adventures and excitement, monsters and mayhem. Have all the greatest stories in the world already been told? You and your students, along with our narrator, will write the next “Once Upon A Time!” Explore the ingredients of storytelling: characters, setting, plot, conflict, resolution. With creativity and focus, we sprinkle in royalty, fantasy, and wizardry. But, beware! The journey won’t always be fun and fairy dust. Darkness creeps in and only the imagination of our audience members can help conquer evil and restore happiness.
This concert has been designed to provide participants with an integrated curriculum experience, addressing learning in both music and language arts. Throughout the concert, participants will be asked to engage as they identify the elements of story including character, setting, plot, conflict, and resolution. They will discover how music can depict a story and work together to create a symphonic tale – an original story with music themes.
