American Eagle Day at Avian Reconditioning Center

A celebration of the Bald Eagle, our National symbol, and the amazing recovery of this once endangered species.

June 20th is American Eagle Day which was signed into law in 2007 to recognize our National symbol, the Bald Eagle and the freedom and courage it represetns. We take the opportunity to teach visitors about Bald Eagles, how and why they became our National Symbol and how to identify both adult and immature Bald Eagles in the wild. We talk about the challenges of the past, the restoration of healthy Bald Eagle populations and how we are working to ensure the future survival of Bald Eagles and all our native birds of prey.

Photo opportunities are available with our resident Bald Eagle “Isaiah” in front of the American Flag. Kids’ crafts projects. We celebrate all things American – refreshments of lemonade, iced tea, apple pie and watermelon.

ADMISSION INFO

Free admission and parking, but we gratefully acccept donations to support the care of our resident Bald Eagles and fund our rehabilitation and conservation efforts.
