In this program, first and second grade students experience three activities:

1) learning about “Citizen Heroes” who made significant contributions and how they, too, can be citizen heroes;

2) searching through the Heritage Museum looking for items on a scavenger hunt;

Groups are welcome on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays throughout the school year.

Available times:

Buses should be scheduled to arrive between 9 – 10 am. After completing the planned activities, many groups enjoy a short walk to lunch at the covered Farmer’s Market Pavilion (with restrooms) on West Plant Street – which is across from a large parking lot to accommodate school buses. Packed lunches and a cooler for drinks can be stored on the buses.

 

Length of :Program 1 hour, 30 minutes
Space / technical requirements:

During the Map Adventure exercise, each class will be walking along the West Orange Trail in historic downtown Winter Garden. Students should dress appropriately for the weather and for walking. Bring jackets on cold days, raincoats on wet days, and hats and water on hot days.

Location(s):

The field trip takes place in Winter Garden’s Downtown Historic District. Buses will drop students off at the History Research and Education Center located at 21 East Plant Street, and then park at the lot across from the Farmer’s Market Pavilion.

Fees / Ticketing:

$4 per student; teachers and chaperones are free.
