Steinway Society of Central Florida

Inspired by the venerable Van Cliburn Foundation model, the Piano Adventure Program is designed to introduce young audiences to the excitement of live piano performances, and to reinforce the basic elements of music through fun, interactive activities within the context of the classical, jazz, and popular piano repertoire.

The goal is to foster knowledge and appreciation of music and culture. Through the experience of a live performance, students will make connections with composers and music from different periods in history, explore the science of sound, and investigate the inner workings of the piano. Creative thinking and imagination will be encouraged as students discover the power of music and the ability to tell a story without words.

Each 45-minute interactive concert features a program facilitator and two guest pianists. A Steinway concert grand piano is used during the performances. Following each concert, an after-school “Piano Exploration” gives students ample opportunity to view the piano close-up, and play it as well (the piano will remain at the school for at least 24 hours). If feasible, student and/or faculty recitals are arranged.
